One of the main objectives of iTILT is to help teachers learn to use the IWB effectively in their language classes. But teachers of course have many different ideas about effective second language teaching and learning. Teachers new to the IWB, for example, may find it intimidating, as this video from the Oxford University Press ELT channel shows.
Even teachers who have more experience using the IWB find many different ways of exploiting in their language classes, depending on their objectives for their learners, their views on language learning and teaching, and their institutional contexts.
A research paper exploring these issues by two iTILT partners, Euline and myself, is just out in Language Learning and Technology, an open access journal which you can read online or download without subscription. Using data collected in the run-up to the iTILT project, we look at secondary EFL teachers in Germany and primary EFL teachers in France to see how they use the IWB in their classrooms and what they have to say about it.
